Civil and Environmental Engineering shapes the technical environment. It designs, plans, constructs, builds and operates structures and is responsible for the infrastructure. Tasks also include the drafting of plans, analysis and expertise. The work becomes evident in visible and non-visible structures, e.g. bridges, sewage treatment plants. The degree programme consists of the following 15 compulsory modules: construction and project management, statics, concrete and brickwork construction, mechanics of materials, geotechnical engineering, civil engineering and building physics, timber construction, hydraulics and water engineering, mathematics, geometry and computer sciences, mechanics, steel construction, environmental engineering, traffic engineering, surveying and materials in construction engineering. During the orientation phase building construction, mechanics and materials in construction engineering are studied. There is an elective module, Soft Skills, in which students are to acquire basic scientific and technical skills and legal, linguistic and social skills. To conclude the programme a bachelor thesis must be written and presented in the framework of the relevant course.
