Description

The degree Programme in Space Sciences and Earth from Space provides students with a technological and natural sciences education in the field of space sciences and its applications in three specialisation subjects which complement each other: “Solar System Physics“, “Satellite Systems“ and “Earth System from Space”. in the dealing with space sciences and the system Earth on a technological and natural sciences basis: “Solar System Physics” enhances the understanding of the physics of the solar system, the planets and their interaction with the solar wind and energy eruptions on the sun (so-called space weather”); essential insights in the field of space plasma physics and physics of the sun and the planets are gained here. “Satellite Systems” covers satellite communication and satellite navigation, which have gained in importance, with applications in disaster prevention and crisis management as well as in telemedicine and telelearning. “Earth Systems from Space” covers the observation of the components of the system Earth (solid earth, oceans, ice masses, atmosphere, etc.) by means of modern satellite technologies and their physical description and numerical modelling. Students can set individual foci by choosing their desired courses from a catalogue of elective courses. The programme concludes with a master’s thesis and a master’s examination.
