Description

The degree programme in Biomedicine and Biotechnology at the University of Veterinary Medicine Vienna imparts important basics in natural sciences and veterinary medicine and enables a broad education at the interface between technology, medicine and biology. The bachelor's programme lasts six semesters and consists of lectures, seminars, conversatories, exercise courses and work placements. Examinations take place at the end of each course. In the courses the students’ knowledge is tested at regular intervals; they have immanent examination character. At the end of the programme students have to write a bachelor's thesis; they have to choose the topic of this thesis from one of the examination subjects prescribed in the curriculum. Students can take part in projects from the first semester onwards to get practical experience and to use their knowledge in practice. Moreover, they have to do a four-week work placement in the third academic year. They can do this placement at the University of Veterinary Medicine Vienna or at relevant external institutions.
