Description

The master’s programme in Dance Pedagogy deals with dance techniques from classical ballet to contemporary dance and it also deals with findings about the human body, its biology, its emotions, its resources and its mechanisms. The curriculum of the master's programme in Dance Pedagogy offers in-depth studies of the practice and theory of dance. The focus is on the methodology of artistic (performance) research and practise-led research. The master’s programme in Dance Pedagogy is divided into three modules and covers the following areas: practice of dance pedagogy (contemporary dance, practical training in artistic areas, specialisation in dance), movement studies theory (selected chapters from methodology and didactics, specialisation seminars in the fields of stage dance / choreography / history of dance / performance) as well as a master’s thesis with subsequent examinations in didactics and artistic performance. External dance projects are an important part of the master's programme with a view to developing the artistic identity of the students. A special focus of the Institute of Dance Arts is on interdisciplinary cooperation with musicians and composers.
